Address searches are used for the report and are not saved.
Address lookup
When you enter a Vancouver street address, Field Note Civic Labs processes it only long enough to generate the report you requested. Do not enter an apartment, suite, or unit number. Field Note Civic Labs does not add the address to its database or retain it for pilot follow-up.
The address is sent to the Government of British Columbia’s BC Address Geocoder to resolve its location. The resulting coordinates are used to query nearby issued-building-permit records and public-street segments from the City of Vancouver open-data service. The street segments let the report draw street lines and names without sending the searched area to a separate map provider. Those services may process ordinary technical request information under their own privacy practices.
Website operation
OpenAI Sites hosts this pilot and may provide aggregate visitor and page-view information. Ordinary server logs may contain request time, requested path, referrer, browser or user-agent information, and network information. Field Note Civic Labs does not use advertising trackers, cross-site tracking cookies, or visitor profiles on this pilot.
Pilot measurement and feedback
To understand whether the pilot is useful, Field Note Civic Labs records when a report succeeds or fails and a broad bucket for the number of matching permits. These events do not include the searched address, coordinates, report contents, or a persistent visitor identifier.
If you choose to send feedback, Field Note Civic Labs stores your usefulness rating and any optional comment. An email address is optional and is stored only when you also consent to follow-up. Feedback is not connected to the address you searched. Do not include an address or other sensitive information in the comment box.
